Spotlight on Rose Gold
Rose gold is a metal that is warm, beautiful, and distinct. You will find it in everything from colored stone rings to Rolex watches. Let’s learn more about this popular material for antique, vintage, and new designs.
To start, did you know there is no such thing as naturally occurring rose gold? It is created by adding copper to molten gold to bring the rosy hue. Rose gold is often used along with other colors of gold or other metals. Rose gold being used in conjunction with a white metal sets off the rosy color even more.
In Victorian times (1830-1901) rose gold was sought after as pink was the color of romance. Rose gold was at a high again in the Retro period (1935-50), as platinum was deemed a wartime metal and banned from civilian use. Rose gold was popular throughout many periods in history and has gained in popularity again over the last decade.
