The Polaroid Land Model 95A is a variant of the original model 95, the first practical camera in history. The Model 95, this camera's predecessor, was the first of the Land Cameras. These cameras are named after the founder of Polaroid, Edwin H Land (1909-1991). He was the inventor responsible for conceiving and perfecting instant photography. In 1943 on a vacation in Sante Fe, Land's daughter was three years old and asked her father why she couldn't see her picture right away. He was immediately taken with the idea and set off on a long walk to think. Within an hour he had a plan that was so clear to make the idea of instant photos a reality. For three years the instant camera was kept secret while they worked out all the details. In 1947, Land's first public demonstration of this revolutionary technology was during a meeting of the Optical Society of American in New York.
