Born in England in 1839, Campion studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in London. He traveled to America in the late 1860’s. From 1868-69 he painted in Virginia City, NV. He then headed to the West Coast where he maintained a studio in San Francisco from 1871-76. He made painting trips to various parts of California & Oregon, and around 1900 headed back to England.
